A catch-all email mailbox receives messages sent to invalid email addresses under the exact same domain. For example, an email message sent to the mistyped suport@domain.com will be delivered to support@domain.com if the catch-all feature has been enabled for the latter. In this way, you can receive messages from mates or customers who may have sent a message to your email address with a typographical error or to an old one, which they may still have, but you have already deleted. Only one single mailbox per domain name can be a catch-all one and email forwarding cannot be activated for such a mailbox. This is so because of the fact that at some point you may begin receiving spam emails in the catch-all mailbox and the forwarding limitation implies that the spam will not be delivered to a 3rd-party mailbox.

Catch-all Emails in Website Hosting

If you’ve got a Linux website hosting with us and you want to activate the catch-all functionality for a given mailbox that you have in the account, it will take literally only a single mouse click in the Email Manager section of your Hepsia Control Panel to achieve that. A catch-all button is available to the right of each email address that you have created under any domain name hosted in your account. You can pick one address per domain by clicking on the corresponding button. This will activate the feature momentarily, so all emails sent to misspelled addresses will be re-sent there. Clicking the button once more will disable the catch-all feature. If you have activated email forwarding, our system will exhibit a cautionary notification and you won’t be able to activate the catch-all feature until you delete the forwarding or you can simply pick another mailbox to be the catch-all one.
